Best Republican vs. Best Democrat

In the history of the great country of the United States of America, there have been some truly amazing presidents. They led the country through some of the worst wars the world has ever known. They unified the country and helped shape the country into what it is today, regardless of whether they were republican or democratic. It’s hard to choose one from each, but it has to be done. So, here goes.

BEST DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENT: John F. Kennedy

JFK is one of the most well known presidents of all time. Unfortunately, he is so well known because he got assassinated. However, before he was killed, he did many good things for the country. He led the United States through one of the most stressful times in history. Thanks to his heroics, the U.S. avoided a nuclear war that would have ended up blowing up half the world. His composure throughout the whole process helped him become both a national and global hero. He also took the U.S. economy out of recession through his reforms. GDP, which had grown at only 2.2% on average per year during Eisenhower’s presidency, grew at a rate of 5.5% from 1961-63, when Kennedy was assassinated. Unemployment decreased. He started the Peace Corps, which has done so much for so many all over the world. Also, thanks to Kennedy’s determination, NASA sent the first man to the moon.

BEST REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT: Ronald Reagan

Although JFK dealt with the brunt of the Cold War, Reagan officially ended it with his firm anti-communism stance. He gave the famous speech in Berlin telling Mikhail Gorbachev to “tear down this wall.” Another thing Reagan is well known for is his “Reaganomics.” He inherited a misery index of 19.99% and when he left office, it was at 9.72%. Reagan created 16 million new jobs. Also, when he came to office, the Republican Party as a whole was not popular at all following the watergate scandal. His free-market, small-government, pro-liberty conservatism helped to revitalize the GOP and his influence resonates today as conservative candidates still invoke Reagan as their standard-bearer. He singlehandedly turned the struggling Republican Party around and unified the nation.

Now, as for who would win in an election, I honestly can’t be sure. After what happened in the last election, it seems like anything is possible. I think it would be very close. It would be an intense rivalry. I think Reagan would win it, though. His rock solid commitment to American values, integrity, political courage, and ability to inspire confidence and earn the public’s support would give him the edge over Kennedy. Reagan was straight up with the American citizens. He was honest. People want to know the truth, and Reagan would give it to them. After the 8 years of lies and political weakness, I could see Reagan appealing to the country as a whole. Personally, I would vote for Reagan because I agree with his beliefs and stances on nearly everything. Also, this picture is amazing.

  2. I chose the same presidents, but unlike you I thought JFK was the better president and as dan said, the heroic figure of our nation. other than that it was pretty good.

    1. I’m not usually someone to be a conspiracy theorist, but I could believe it if someone said it. He was a national and global hero, and it seemed like everyone liked him. Seems odd that he would be assassinated by an American if there wasn’t something else going on behind the scenes.
